∙ 9y agoGiraffes eat leaves that grow on trees. They need the long neck to reach the food. Giraffes got these long necks because of evolution. By coincidence there are animals in a population that have different genes and for example a longer neck. The giraffes with longer necks could eat more food (they had an advantage) and due to natural selection they got more offspring. The offspring inherited the long neck from their parents and that's why all the giraffes have long necks nowadays.
