Look around the belt floating roller. Place a ratchet in the square hole and torque the ratchet. The tensioner will release.
I need a diagram of 2003 ford crown victoria serpentine belt.
All you need is a ratchet that fits in the square hole where the belt tensioner is. Move it one way to slack the tensioner.
Is there not a diagram at the front of the engine compartment that shows how the serpentine belt is routed ( my 1995 Ford Explorer has that )
Normally cannot, it is self adjusted. Have a new belt installed, and have the adjuster checked.
which one the power steering, alternator, crank or a/c,crank?
The job is not too hard. With the right tools, just remove the belt, and unbolt the tensioner, and replace. Then with your ratchet i( it fits in the square slot ) slack the tensioner and slip the new belt on. You have to slack the tensioner to take off the belt also.
No , the 4.6 liter V8 engine in a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria has ( 2 ) timing chains ( 1 chain to each cylinder head ) and the serpentine belt drives the engine accessories at the front of the engine
There's three slots on the sides of the trunk tensioner bar, you adjust the tension by moving the bar in the different notches.
no
On that year there is no tensioner for the alternator. However there is a tensioner for the entire serpentine belt. It looks like a turkey leg with a wheel on the small end. there is a 3/8" square hole that you can insert a breaker bar to releave tension on the tensioner. It is on the front of the engine on the left front side. If there is excessive slack on the belt you may lose power, power steering, water pressure, and a few other things. So if you are not familiar with this, it is best to have a mechanic check the belt tension.
