The nerves in the cochlea pick up sounds and converts them to electric impulses for the brain. To those nerves, noises are actually pulses of energy and the nerves can only tolerate certain levels of energy before they start to fail. It doesn't happen all at once, but nerve deafness is inevitable if you're around loud sounds for extended periods of time. The different parts of our bodies have the ability to regenerate and heal, but repeated or extreme damage can cause scar tissue which doesn't function well for anything except covering a hole. Good luck. Hope you haven't experienced too much nerve damage yet.
No. Unless its louder than an airplane.
It might not make you totally deaf, but it can definitely damage your hearing. I'm living proof. I always listened to music way too loud, and now I definitely have some hearing damage. I always have to ask people to repeat themselves, and when I watch TV it always has to be at the maximum volume, or I can't hear what the people are saying properly. Whenever I watch TV with other people, they're constantly asking me to turn it down.
By vibrating the small, thin, and fragile bone in your ear that allows sound to be converted into valid, recognizable noises hard enough that it is permanently damaged on a severe level. One that you never recover from and might lose the rest of your hearing if it's bad enough.

If you mean that your ears ring (tinnitus) after listening to loud music, you may be dangerously close to permanently damaging your hearing, or you may already be beyond that point. Your hearing CAN be damaged, and it CAN be damaged permanently. Being young does NOT mean that your hearing organs will ALWAYS spring back. One danger for young people who love loud music is that as hearing begins to decline, there is a need for louder music which of course will speed the damage. If you are talking about ringing in the ears, please find a nearby hearing clinic (I believe that Beltone clinics do hearing assessments without charge) and get tested. Whether your hearing is normal, damaged or even superior, take the ringing as a sign that you must start protecting your hearing now in order to avoid living the rest of your life with hearing impairments. If your hearing happens to be normal or superior and you take this as a sign that you can abuse your hearing as much as you like, then I would like to talk with you in ten years-- assuming, that is, that you can still hear in ten years.Do you actually physically hear the music faintly, or is it more like hearing some catchy tune and then you 'can't get it out of your head' for the rest of the day? If you have the experience of physically hearing the music faintly, it could still be related to a hearing problem. After all, you did specify that this happens to you after listening to loud music, not just any music. I am not a physician or hearing specialist, but faintly hearing sounds after listening to loud music may still be related to overstimulation of the hearing mechanisms in the ear.

Whatever volume is comfortable for your ears. However, it is not recommended to ever turn your iPod up to full volume due to ear damage, because if you need to turn your iPod up that much, then your surroundings may be too loud, and the loud music you might be listening to could damage your ears.

Listening to anything that is too loud. Classical music, rock music, hip hop, chilldren's songs--if it is too loud, it can hurt the ear. As will a lawnmower, a car engine, airplane engine, etc. Other things--if someone hits you with their fists on your ears, that could harm the ear, as would slapping someone on their ears. Putting objects in someones ears is dangerous as it could damage the eardrum or pierce it.
