Animals get there nitrogen basically from proteins. All proteins are derived from amino acids which contain nitrogen groups. Through several reaction nitrogen is extracted from these proteins.

Other organisms such some of the bacteria get there nitrogen via fixing it from the air, the process is called nitrogen fixing.Plants get there nitrogen by association with these nitrogen fixing bacteria.

Nitrogen is the most abundant element(gas) in the earth's atmosphere as it comprises 78% by volume. It is an important constituent of proteins required by our body and is also required for the proper growth of plants, human beings and animals. The atmospheric nitrogen reaches the ground or to plants by the following processes:-

*N2+O2-NO

This happens during the thundering process.Nitrogen and oxygen combines to form reddish brown nitric oxide by the absorption of heat energy.

*NO+O2-NO2

Nitric acid is oxidised to nitric oxide.

*NO2+H2O+O2-HNO3+HNO2

Nitrogen dioxide dissolves in water in the presence of oxygen to form nitric and nitrous acids.

*HNO3+CaCO3-Ca(NO3)2+CO2+H20

Niric acid reacts with the earth soil to form a nitrogeneous compond called calcium nitate along with water and carbon dioxide.

Organisms receive nitrogen in several ways. About 78% the air we breathe containes nitrogen gas. Nitrogen is also in muscle and in nucleic acids, so anytype of food contains nitrogen atoms.

What is the source of nitrogen for animals?

Animals get nitrogen from plants.

Can humans get the nitrogen they need to exist in the air?

Plants and animals die and decomposers break down their nitrogen containing molecules to ammonia. All animals get the nitrogen they need by eating plants, by eating other animals that ate plants, or by eating animals that ate animals that ate plants.

How do plants get nitrogen compared to how animals get nitrogen?

Most plants get nitrogen from fertilizers. Some plants can have a process called nitrogen fixing in which nitrogen from the is turned into ammonium compounds. Animals get their nitrogen from food, by eating plants and other animals.

When do animals lose nitrogen?

Animals will lose nitrogen when they die. This is whey decay and nitrogen is released as ammonia into the air.

How do animals get their nitrogen they need?

well, herbivores eat plants (which have nitrogen in them due to help from nitrogen fixating bacteria) then other animals eat herbivores. Since animals are heterotrophs they have to get their nutrients from other organisms.

How do animals like the deer pictured contribute to the nitrogen cycle?

Animals such as deer eat plants that contain nitrogen. The nitrogen helps the animals build and repair cells. When that animal dies, the nitrogen is released back into the atmosphere.

How does nitrogen from the air get into the bodies of plants and animals?

When the animals breathe in nitrogen it goes into their bodies so when they die and decompose the nitrogen they breathed in is now in the soil and also when they fertilize on the land.

Can nitrogen in soil be used by plants or animals?

Nitrogen is everywhere But somehow, nitrogen has to get from the atmosphere into a form that our body can use.I also think that nitrogen in soil can be used by plants not animals

Where do animals get nitrogen from?

Animals get their nitrogen from plants and by eating other animals

Do animals use nitrogen?

no

How do plants and animals differ in the ways they obtain nitrogen?

Plants get it from bacteria which live associated with their roots who take atmospheric nitrogen and fixate it (nitrogen cycle). Animals can only get it by ingesting organic compounds which contain nitrogen, such as plants and other animals which have eaten plants.
