One of the reasons that fruits are so delicious and full of nutrients is because those building blocks are intended to nourish the seeds themselves. It's why we eat the eggs of a lot of animals - there is a whole lot of good stuff there! So part of the reason trees produce fruits is to nourish and protect the seeds. If something doesn't eat the fruit, it falls to the ground and decays and fertilizes the soil where the seed will grow.
The other main reason to produce fruit actually is so that they will be eaten! Animals eat the fruits and carry the seeds around in their digestive system. As they're wandering around, they have a bowel movement, and the seed has been deposited in a new location, completely surrounded by fresh fertilizer! The fruit allows the plant to spread its seeds in a wide range by having animals carry them.
Fruits have become even more of an evolutionary advantage since the onset of human cultivation of crops. The useless plants, what we often call weeds, are killed in favor the the plants that we find useful, such as those that produce fruit. From an evolutionary standpoint, fruit give plants a huge advantage.

Simply, the process of polination involves moving the pollen from the anthers to the stigma of the plant, this culminates in the pollination of the ovule (which is contained in the ovary of the flower).
The fertilized ovule matures into the seed, while the ripening ovary forms the fruit.
