i want to answer this question because all other answers related to this r completely unscientific .
they stop bleeding by turning fibrinogen protein with Ca into fibrin which becomes fibrin polymar . this works as a filter . it is attached to the ruptured vessel wall . the cell and other substances get trapped into it . in this way it helps in stops bleeding .
When blood clots, a substance called fibrinogen creates tiny fibers, and then the platelets get stuck in the fibers, creating a clot.
They gather up and clot
Platelets in the blood help to stem bleeding from a wound.
The platelets help to stem bleeding. Without them, it may be difficult to stop bleeding from a wound.
platelets and thrombocytes
Platelets in the blood will bind together to form a fiber over the wound and clot the blood.
Blood contains platelets that control any bleeding by coagulating over the wound, this also helps keep the wound free from infection. Urinating on the wound will only dissolve the platelets, preventing the coagulation. =Although urine is sterile, it is also an acid, (uric acid), and will probably cause irritation.==Have you ever sliced your finger while cooking, most people rush to the tap and run water over it - this doesn't make a whole lot of sense because you're actually washing away the platelets that are needed to control the bleeding and prevent infection.=
The main job of platelets, or thrombocytes, is blood clotting. Platelets are much smaller in size than the other blood cells. They group together to form clumps, or a plug, in the hole of a vessel to stop bleeding.
Platelets contain clotting factors that cause them to stick together, which stops bleeding from an opened blood vessel by solidifying the blood (hemostasis). Platelets also carry the growth factors (PDGF) that stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, which is called angiogenesis.
Platelets help heal your wound, the scabs that form are the platelets
Platelets release proteins that form clots and decrease bleeding.
Whenever a blood vessel is injured, platelets accumulate at the site of injury and help in formation of a blood clot. The clot seals the wound in the blood vessel and prevents blood loss. But if all the blood platelets are removed from blood, blood will not clot and there will be a lot of blood loss.It may even lead to the death of the person
Platelets, which are produced in the bone marrow act to form clots and stop bleeding at the site of a wound. Calcium, vitamin K, and the protein fibrinogen work with the platelets in the formation of a clot. The platelets and fibrinogen allow for the formation of fibrin which makes a web-like mesh at the wound site trapping blood cells within in. This then hardens and eventually becomes a scab.
the part of the blood that closes a wound is called the platelets.
