Animals protect themselves in many ways. For ex some animals change their colour according to the surrounding and hide themselves.(like Chameleon, tree lizard, desert snake) some animals run fastly to protect themselves(deer, Kangaroo) some animals spray some venom to protect themselves(Some frogs, snakes) some animals produce bad odor to protect themselves(shrew)
It depends on the animal. Some use noise, smell or camorflarge. Other animals such as tigers use their teeth and claws.

There are various methods for defence, depending on the animal.

  • camouflage, which may enable them to blend into their surroundings, or make them appear more dangerous than they really are
  • hard shells (e.g. turtles, molluscs)
  • quills or spines (porcupine, echidna)
  • sharp teeth and/or claws
  • burrowing into the ground to hide
  • speed and agility of movement

Animal that could be prey, must constantly avoid being eaten. For this reason, these creatures have to resort to defense mechanisms. Examples of some defense mechanisms prey use are:

Chemical combat as some frogs use.

Camouflage like the chameleon use.

Speed as vegetarian animals run all day to avoid predators.

Trickery: false features and mimicry as butterflies do for surviving.
