Differences private sector and public sector?

Private Sector are generally small business organizations run by private individuals or groups (not shareholders) and are not listed in the Stock Exchange. Private companies are also unregulated by a federal authority. The Public Sector are companies owned by shareholders and available for public purchase through the stock exchange. Public companies are regulated by a federal exchange commission, but are available for purchase by foreign investors - such as China's current shares in GM. For instance; A public company can become private by having ALL shares in its Stock Exchange purchased by an individual, a small group of investors, or another company that is privately held.

What is the difference between merger amalgamation?

"Very often, the two expressions "merger" and "amalgamation" are taken as synonymous. But there is, in fact, a difference. Merger is restricted to a case where the assets and liabilities of the companies get vested in another company, the company which is merged losing its identity and its shareholders becoming shareholders of the other company. On the other hand, amalgamation is an arrangement, whereby the assets and liabilities of two or more companies become vested in another company (which may or may not be one of the original companies) and which would have as its shareholders substantially, all the shareholders of the amalgamating companies." I found it while surfing for the same... Hope it answers.

What are the similarities between private and public enterprise?

Both companies are incorporated, meaning that they have separate legal identies to the owners of the business, they also have limited liability, where shareholders will only lose the amount of money they invested into the business, if the business became bankrupt. To set up these companies you must sent two documents, a Memorandum of Association, giving the name, address and objectives of the business, along with an Article of Association, describing the internal rules of the company i.e. how it will be run. The final similarity is that both companies are owned by shareholders, therefore the more shares you own in these businesses, the more control you have of these businesses. The difference here is that in private limited companies, all existing shareholders must agree before any more shares in the business are sold, and in public limited companies, anyone can buy shares, if the company can find people who want to sell their shares for them.

This cannot be answered because in today's business environment, there are few if any privately held "auto companies" . Most companies that produce automobiles are public corporations that are "owned" by their shareholders and controlled by a board of directors. They have chairman of the board and a Chief Executive Officer as well as directors, other salaried Sr. Management positions, etc. Those salaries are all public knowledge in a publicly held corporation.
