Meiosis is the process where sex cells are formed. They are diploid in the beginning and end up being haploid. Once cell dividing in meiosis will form 4 daughter cells.

Mitosis is the process by which normal body cells reproduce. The start out as diploid cells and end up as diploid cells. One cell dividing in mitosis will form 2 daughter cells.

Mitosis is the more common form of cell reproduction!

Meiosis produces four haploid daughter cells from one parent cell as it goes through two divisions to get half the amount of DNA. Mitosis results in to two diploid daughter cells. The daughter cells are all different due to occurrences such as law of independent assortment and law of segregation and crossing over where the tetrads of two chromatins swap genetic material. In addition meiosis is the division of sex cells and mitosis is the process in which all the other cells divide. Hope this helps a bit.

The basic difference is that mitosis results in the production of two daughter cells that are identical to the parent cell, whereas meiosis results in the production of 4 daughter cells that differ from the parent cell in chromosome number and genetic components. There are also differences in the stages that occur during each process.

Mitosis is the process by which a cell divides to produce two new cells with identical sets of chromosomes, and the same number of chromosomes to the parent cell. The main purpose for this is to produce new cells for growth and repair, replacing old tissues Fo it to take plcae cells enter a cycle of growth and division; this is repeated until the cell is no longer able to divide.

Meiosis on the other hand only takes place in the testes and ovaries. It is a special type of cell division that produces gametes (also known as sex cells) for sexual reproduction

· Mitosis produces new cells with genetic material identical to the original cell (diploid cells);

used in asexual reproduction, growth, repair, and development.

· Sex cells are produced by meiosis. (egg and sperm)(haploid cells)

How does mitosis differ from meiosis in terms of chromosome segregation?

Meiosis results in four cells, each with half the chromosomes of the original cell. Mitosis results in two cells, each which has the same number of chromosomes as the original cell.

Its meiosis. Mitosis is cell division.

Meiosis II is similar to which process?

Meiosis II is identical to Mitosis. Meiosis is split into two stages, Meiosis I and Meiosis II. Meiosis I is similar to mitosis however the cells resulting from it have half as many chromosomes as the parent cell.

Before mitosis or meiosis DNA coils into what?

Before mitosis and meiosis, DNA is loose in the form of chromatin, then it coils into chromosomes right before the mitosis and meiosis.

How does the function of mitosis differ from the function of meiosis?

Mitosis makes new cells that are used during growth, development, repair, and asexual reproduction. Meiosis makes cells that enable an organism to reproduce sexually and happens only in reproductive structures.

Do clown fish use mitosis or meiosis?

both. mitosis is for skin and meiosis is for reproduction
