whales are captured by the whaling ships harpoons, which are found at the front of the ships. They fire large arrow like harpoons into the vonuable spots of the whales and then some how bring them around to the back of the ship and dragged up a acess ramp to be chopped up. i think they use it like boats to pull them around.

Whales are mammals and so they can breathe out of the water. But what kills them, is their enormous weight. Their bone structure is not made to support it out of the water: it is the water's buoyancy that supports practically all of their weight.

So basically a stranded whale is killed because its ribs and lungs are crushed under its own weight.

Whales in nature have no natural enemies once they are fully grown although their calves may sometimes be attacked and killed by predators such as orcas.

A few countries such as Japan (illegally) and a few Eskimo/Inuit communities (who are allowed, just for their own needs) unfortunately still hunt whales. They kill whales with harpoons with an explosive charge near its point that explodes upon impact to kill them. It is a cruel way and for that reason alone it is right that whale hunting has been banned worldwide.
People kill whales with spears, guns, or even wacking them. That is no way to treat a creature, even when it's becoming extint !
