In a pack, quietly, they search for prey and they sneak up one they have spotted for their next meal. They circle it and leap. If it gets away, then they chase it for miles until it gets tired. Then they strike. The alpha eats first.

Usually, in a pack format.

Wolves hunt in packs, often running the prey down by taking turns chasing it, as in relays. They are evolved for the chase, not as ambush hunters like cats.

Well, when they're hunting their main prey, caribou, they gather around the caribou and attack (its hard to explain) and when they're hunting lemmings they just sneak up on it and pounce and bite its neck, kind of like a cat.
They usually run it down, taking turns in the chase, like a relay.
