Does the 1991 2.5 s10 have a timing chain or a belt or just mesh gears and how do you replace them
The camshaft is gear driven off the crankshaft. The camshaft gear is pressed onto the camshaft. The camshaft must be removed from the engine to change the camshaft timing gear. The timing gears should last the life of the engine. Next time, please don't answer your question with another question.
Timing belts are usually only used for Overhead Cam Engines ( DOHC or SOHC). The Iron Duke is a overhead valve engine and not an over head cam engine. The Iron Duke has cam gears instead of a chain or a belt.
Are you sure it has a chain?? Most small cars either have a timing belt or two gears that mess together. The 2.2 liter engine is called the iron duke. This means that it has two gears that mess together and 99% of the time you will not need to replace them. I had many friends who had this engine in their trucks and cars and they had well over 200,000 miles on them and never had to replace the gears. However if you do have a timing belt the picture will be located on the right front fender under the hood.
not a timing issue since the iron duke 2.5 engine has no timing belt
Actually James Buchanan did not found Duke University. Duke was founded in 1838 by Methodists and Quakers. It moved to Durham in 1892. But James Buchanan established the Duke Endowment, prompting the university to change its name in 1924.
