How do you Repairing power steering in a Pontiac grand prix 1986 its leaking is it hose or pump time to learn?

I asked the question: I was lucking I just had a hole in the holes they patched it for 40 bucks never think any things broken till your sure... was told if it was the pump I should of not been able to move the steering wheel at all.
