I'll try to explain what I saw in a video on YouTube that I stupidly didn't save. Start with your yarn underneath the seam. With your hook, go into and under your first hole in the seam and bring up a loop. With that loop on your hook, yarn over, go into the next hole and bring up another loop. Yarn over and go through both loops on your hook. You should have what looks like a chain stitch on top of the work, centered on the seam. Repeat all the way across and secure your ends as usual.
