To abort a mission in Assassin's Creed II, simply open the main menu and hit "Abort Memory". This will drop you at the last position known before taking up the mission. You can restart the mission again at any time.

During a mission, press pause and the option beneath "resume" should say "abort memory" or something along the lines of that.
click the "abort memory" option on the pause menu. it will then desynchronize and send you to either the mission start place or town square.
what you do is you pause the game and you go to the right of the pause menu and you will see a small X. and above it it will say abort memory
turn off the console, that's my best bet.
Press start and then select the second one, it should say abort memory.
Complete "Beat Up" missions.

The main story is the same but the story of the main characters, Altair and Ezio, are very different. Assassins Creed Bloodlines does not have the Animus in it as much as Assassins Creed 1 & 2
