We did this installation and cried for an hour, laying on top of the motor and trying to get to the last (2)back spark plugs, that were murder to insert and screw. We got better the 2nd time. A person on this site said he uses a rubber hose to hold the plug to screw it in and out (brilliant). If you dont have the time a patience, let the mechanic do it, I will from now on!
It also helps if you remove the alternator, once I did that the 3 back plugs were more accessable.

how do i change spark plugs on a 2000 hevy Monte Carlo
You rock the engine forward to gain access to the rear plugs.
i would like to know what would cause the miss firing in Chevy Malibu
look in your owners manual but usually at 100,000 anymore.
If it's anything like my 97, you have to unbolt the "dogbone" motor mount plate, then put the car in gear and roll it forwards. This will turn the entire engine allowing access to the rear 3 (assuming its a v6) plugs.
To change the spark plugs on a 2000 Malibu, you need to get a spark plug socket with a u-joint in order to access the plugs on the firewall side of the engine. The plugs up front are easy to get at, and don't require anything special. Word of warning, if your Malibu has relitivley high mileage on it (80,000+) and it still has the factory plug wires, there is a good chance that they will break on you when you have to pry them off of the plugs, go ahead and replace the plug wires when you replace the plugs.
The Malibu engine has several freeze plugs. They are on both sides of the block and designed to pop to keep the block from freezing.
how do i change the spark plugs on a Chevy silverado 1500
if coils are taken off, then you can access the back plugs ok! coils are on a plate with 3 bolts holding it on to engine. this is the best way to get at back plugs on v6.
It is a 3.1 Liter V6, so it has 6 spark plugs.
Remove the spark plug wires from your 2004 Chevy Malibu spark plugs. Remove the old spark plugs with a 5/8 deep well socket, by turning the socket to the left. Reverse the process to install the new spark plugs.
they say on the 3.1 about 100 thousand miles, but it is best to change plugs when your vehicle is not acting right!
there are 3 in the front and 3 in the back if its a 6cyl.

How do you change the spark plugs on a 2002 chavy trailblazer
I have a 2000 Malibu 3.1,and i found the best way to change the plugs, in front you have plenty of room, in back if you take the 3 bolts on coil plate out and disconnect wiring. the back plugs are easier to get to!! remove coils and plate, on lumina 3.1 you can tilt engine forward, but on Malibu 3.1 you cant move engine forward!! firing order is ---1-2-3-4-5-6-----135 in back 246 in front.
The plugs are located under the plate on top of the engine. You will need to remove the 4 bolts holding the plate. The plugs are located right under. There are no wires on these plugs.
Spark plugs and wires
Change the plugs and plug wires at around 100,000 miles or earlier if you detect a miss or loss in performance of mileage.
the plugs are ok! but they throw them around and they may get broke from shipment. it is better to buy plugs from a auto-parts store unless you trust the store plugs. its your call.
It is useful to know the firing order for the engine of the car being driven. The firing order for a 1997 Chevy Malibu is 5-2-3-6-4-1.
