Open the trunk, reach into the wheel well on the drivers side. You will find a cable that leads to the fuel lid. At the end of the cable you will be able to feel two plastic tabs, grab them and rotate 1/4 turn. The cable will now pop out and the door will pop open. good luck
You should be able to get access to it thru the trunk. Pull back the carpet/plastic on that side and find the cable going to the lid. Even if the cable is broken midway, you should be able to open it by pulling on the very end of the cable near the lid.
Look in the trunk- there ought to be an emergency release- you might have to pull the trunk's liner back a bit to access this cable with a tab attached to it.
There is no access door, you have to take the gas tank down to get to the pump.
use the gas tank to masturbate and ejaculate in the engine
See if you can get access to the gas door by removing the lining/carpet in the trunk. Chances are the cable may have become unhooked there or needs adjustment. I hope this helps you. Mark
Cut a piece of an intertube about 1" X 3" fold it over and place it in the hinge side of fill door push shut leaving a small 1/2" sticking out.
The 1985 Mercedes 380 SE has a gas door release latch located on the driver's side floor board near the hood release lever. If the gas door release latch is no longer operable, the cable to the door might be broken.
Broken or disconnnected cable, something stuck under pedal,
Broken or worn control cable? Bad throttle body?
Your gas gauge might not work on a 1978 Ford Fairmont because the cable is broken. Check the cable to ensure it is not broken or kinked. The other possibility here is that you have a bad fuel sending unit.
Find the place where the cable runs from the opener to the door. check if its broke somewhere. You can also pull on the cable at the door itself and see if it will open.
Probably a broken cable.
