What do you need to do to make the jet ski boats start on Big Nate Island?

* Point the mouse well above and ahead of the jet ski and click to make it jump obstacles. Dodge the bird eggs. Jumping every two seconds or so will win even if you hit a few buoys or eggs.

* Basically you have to just be tied with him (or jump when he jumps) until the very end where you can go a little bit ahead and beat him. You can watch your progress at the screen top while you're racing.

* If that doesn't work, you could try this: Obstacles come in a pattern, and repeat at regular intervals of time. After a few times, you should get the 'rhythm'. The timing is about a four-second count between obstacles, or eggs.

The game expects you to find a reason to use the jet ski. Where are you going? The solution is to climb the lighthouse and use the telescope. Once you see the small "seal island" to the right, you can race Nate there on the jet ski.

Answer 3

To get to the map location that you see in the telescope*, you need the jet ski from the dock near the lighthouse. The way to get the keys is the same way you get the lobster to turn the lighthouse light : dive for Cap'n Salty's lost lobster trap.

• Catch the photo that is blowing in the air by the left side of the lighthouse
• Trade it for Scuba gear at the Say Cheese photo shop
• Put on the gear and dive near the dock (you may want to swim out all the way to the right to avoid the pesky bubbles that otherwise slow you down)
• Return the trap to Cap'n Salty, who will give you a lobster and the jet ski keys

(*you must climb the lighthouse and look through the telescope to use the jet ski)

Cap'n Salty (the old guy) has the keys. Go to the left side of the lighthouse ladder and catch the photo there. Take it to the Say Cheese shop and swap it for scuba gear. Dive to recover Cap'n Salty's lost lobster trap. Climb to the telescope to see Seal Island.

Answer 5

Once you have the jet ski keys from Cap'n Salty, look through the telescope on the lighthouse to see where you're going : the small Seal Island to the right of Puffin Point.

You have to beat Nate to the island. Point your cursor ahead and above your jet ski, so that you move rapidly left to right. Press the mouse button to JUMP over the obstacles (buoys and other floating objects), and avoid the falling eggs dropped by the birds.

(At least we hope they are eggs.)
