There are many reasons why a man might choose to crossdress! Of course there's the standard DSM definition of a crossdresser as being someone with a 'mild' personality disorder...often prompted (so they say) by a slightly deprived sensual and tactile relationship with the mother especially. Though there is often a psychological reason why a man would want to dress in a woman's clothes (isn't there a psychological reason why someone might prefer red over green), there seem to be a very large number of crossdressers (often calling themselves 'CD' or TV -'transvestite'), who simply dress for the pure sensual pleasure of it. In the case of a bisexual male, crossdressing mjay be an aspect of the man wishing to literally adopt the feminine role in a bisexual relationship. Others crossdress as a form of play, and often do so with the encouragment and consent of their wives/partners. However, a great majority of crossdressers practice in what is called 'the closet' which is often a reflection of the refusal of a female partner to accept what she might perceive as non-masculine behaviour and is threatened by any hint of an activity of that kind in her male partner. There are many excellent organisations that offer advice and help to any crossdressers out there. Try www.tvchix.com for example, where you can chat with crossdressers (and sometimes their wives!), about the 'scene'. In an age of sexual and sensual 'liberty' and experimentation, I urge all crossdressers NOT to feel ashamed of their desires. Dress your age, less makeup often is better, get help from genetic women on choices and colors, practice walking/talking/getting in and out of your clothes (especially if you wear a corset), find a local CD'ing group and travel in packs. Be kind, polite, friendly and most of all SMILE!

Pick nice clothes, don't be greedy, don't use too much makeup, don't spend excess money on fake boobs (use the money for something else), be kind to strangers, save the animals, feed the poor, home the homeless...

Like being transgendered, you don't 'become' a crossdresser. Most male crossdressers (not all) remember wanting to dress in girls clothes since they were little: 3 to 7 years old. Since your sex and understanding of it (beyond 'boys have a penis and girls have a vagina' and 'it's not a tumor!') is nothing - it's not about sex: it's about heart and wanting to do something that society says is wrong, even before you understand that it's 'wrong.' You can't convert someone to be a crossdresser, you can't convert the crossdresser over to not be a crossdresser: it's like skin color, nationality or age, you can't change it you have no control over it. You control if you act on it, you control if you tell anyone, you control if you even admit it to yourself, but get rid of it? Ain't happening.

If your parents are accepting of crossdressers, tell them. If not, it may be best to keep it secret until moved out of the house (hey, it seems like a long time, and it really is, but you should have over half your life left after moving out). If you are not sure whether they accept crossdressers, try this: ask them what a crossdresser is or ask them if there's something wrong with crossdressers. The answer will help you out.

You should definitely obtain some clothing. Many young crossdressers 'borrow' clothing from female family members, but for hygenic reasons, it is better to purchase your own. And by the way, retail store employees do not comment or think it's unusual for a boy to be purchasing girl's clothing. They will treat you nicely and with respect. If not, tell the manager and she'll be so pissed at them you'll feel a lot better. Thrift stores are a great place to pick up clothing at a low price. It is good to buy cheap clothing until you know what fits you well and what styles you truly enjoy.

Find an online support group, or online sites written by crossdressers. they are very informative and explain a lot of things that either you need to know, or would be highly useful.

Look you need good advice, and this is not good advice. Unless you are in the 0.0001% of the population with completely free thinking non-judgemental parents, then telling them is just going to cause you a world of pain. Ask yourself what on earth your parents could say that could make the situation better? Asking them what a crossdresser is, or whether it is wrong, is equally pointless. Not only is it a very odd question for a parent to be asked by their son out of the blue, but what good will it serve?

My advice is simple, and hopefully practical. Enjoy yourself, don't harm anyone else, and keep yourself to yourself. You are by no means alone in your enjoyment of crossdressing, but you are equally not in a majority. You probably won't "grow out of it", but there is absolutely no reason you should. Mature, let you preferences mature with you, and see where you find yourself in 5 years time. Just accept and embrace the journey, don't search for answers that probably don't exist, and don't, in my opinion, feel you have to share your preferences with anyone, unless of course you are unhappy. Do whatever you want. I'm a girl and I've been crossdressing since i was five and it's hard at first but eventually you get any problems worked out. If people give you a hard time, that's what god invented the middle finger for. And the truth about parents, if they give you a hard time, they give up eventually as long as you keep doing whatever it is you truly want.
