Undergraduate degree (BA or BS, 4 years) Medical school (4 years) OB/GYN residency (4 years) Medical school is very competitive. You need good grades in college and a good score on your MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) to get in. You must also meet all the prerequisites of the medical school you are applying to, which usually includes at least one year of Biology and two years of chemistry courses. 4-5 years of medical school 2 years of foundation programme 7 years of specialist training studying Obstetrics & Gynaecology Your A Level and GCSE grades have to be very high to get into medical school because it is very competitive. Also to go to medical school you MUST do 2 Science A-Levels including Chemistry. So that's like 13 years minimum in total, it's really long but bear in mind that majority of the specialist training is actually WORKING with professionals in the hospital.

To become an obstetrician, it is imperative that you bag a medical degree, M.D, M.B;B.S, M.B.ChB, depending on which part of the world you study medicine. Then on completion of your undergraduate courses, you would proceed to start a residency program in Obstetrics & Gynaecology which might span another 4-5 years.

Becoming an obstetrician requires a long educational road, so be prepared for a lifelong learning experience. Most start with a Bachelor of Science degree, however some Bachelor of Arts graduates may be accepted into medical school programs. While in high school, take math and science classes. Also, not all medical schools require a bachelor's degree and with good marks, some students can get accepted after two years of undergraduate study. Check with the school for their requirements before applying.

Obstetricians complete four years of medical school and then a year of internship before entering residency graduate education in obstetrics, which usually takes about four to six years. Completion of the qualifying licensing examinations is required to practice medicine. Licensure by the regional licensing authority is required.

Finally, before entering medical school, volunteer in a hospital, nursing home or community center. This will give you valuable experience in dealing with people who need help and what it is like to work as a doctor.
