Ford F150 Starter LocationBased on my owning several Ford pickups over the last 20 some years, Ford F150 starters are located on the right [curbside / passenger side] of the engine, down near the bottom of the block [just above the top edge of the oil pan] and on the rear flange of the engine on which the transmission and/or clutch bell housing attaches.

The tension on a 1988 Ford F150 can be loosened by adjusting the belt tensioner. The retaining bolt is loosened, the tensioner shifted slightly, and tightened down.
The 2008 Ford F150 doesn't have a vent window. They do come with a Vent visor so that you can roll your window down a little bit without being in the elements, a replacement will cost you about $50.
Imagine a straight line directly down from the center of the distributor. The oil pump is in the bottom of the engine and straight down from the distributor.

The dash of a 1997 Ford Taurus is removed by taking out the retaining screws, removing the retaining trim, and pulling each panel from the vehicle. The dash is broken down into several sections which require individual components like the radio or vents to be removed prior to taking the dash panels out.
It goes from you speedometer down you engine bay to the transfer case (if that's a 4X4) or into your transmission (4X2)
I had to take the dash panel down to get to the bulbs. It's pretty straigt forward takiking the dash down or if you can look in a chiltons manual it shows the steps.

I have the same problem with my 1994 F150 except it will shift down from overdrive...let me know if you get an answer..firstname.lastname@example.org I have a 1994 ford F150 which was doing the same thing...ended up being the throttle position sensor...Drives like a new truck after new one was installed....

I believe the procedures are either covered, or linked to the "Related Question" below regarding replacing the heater core - which is deep down inside the dash.
It will be on the drivers door jamb or on the drivers side dash and can be seen from looking down in the dash thru the windshield from the outside of the vehicle. It will also be on your registration and title.
