It's always best to have a Realtor or attorney or some type of representation when purchasing a home from a seller. There are many factors that go into purchasing a home that yourself or the seller may not be able to explain, but once signed and in writing you are bound to the contract. Contact a local real estate agent for assistance. In most cases, the seller will pay the buyers agents commission, and if they don't you can ask the real estate agent that is assisting you how much they would charge for document preparation or representation in this transaction.

Call the county where the property is located (or the county that you want to buy property at), and ask them for a list of properties that are foreclosed. Also ask them when the sale will take place. Most counties have an annual sale, but since the recent rise of foreclosures they have made more sales events. After you have the list go visit the properties and inspect the ones that you want to bid on.

Can a creditor take away your house?

Answer I seriously doubt if any one creditor can take your house especially if it's not paid off and you are still making payments on it. What a creditor can do though is force you into declaring Bankrupcy and at that point depending on how much money is owed on your home either the house would be sold and the money distrubuted amoungst your creditors or the bank where you got your mortage would re-sell the house.
