If you have just acquired a kitten, the best thing to do is do place him or her in a quiet room, away from noisy or busy parts of the household so she/he can recover from the move and begin to get used to a new place.

It is probably best to keep the kitten in that one room for a week or so, until she is completely settled in and used to your company. Make sure you provide a bed for her to sleep in, a litter tray, toys, and food and water bowls. You may even want to give her a place to hide, such as a cat carrier lined with soft towels or blankets. Being in a new place is scary!

Don't worry if she has an upset tummy for the first few days - stress will cause a cat to have loose stools. This should clear up quickly.

After a while, let her explore the house and other members of the household gradually. Doing this too quick will scare her.

Depending on her age and personal requirements (all cats are different, just like people), she may need a lot of care, or very little. Here I shall summarise the basics:

Things you'll need:

Food and Water Bowls, blankets/bed (although you may find your kitten choosing where she wants to sleep =P), litter tray and litter, toys, cat carrier (for vet trips or a hiding place). Last but not least, you will need money (you must be prepared to spend money on your kitten, such as buying them food and paying for vet bills), patience, care and love!

Food: Kittens, until they reach adulthood at 1 year of age (unless she is a big breed), generally need twice as much protein as an adult cat. Kittens are constantly growing and developing! Don't be surprised if you are feeding your kitten much more than you would an adult cat. Also, kittens have small stomachs, so the best method of feeding is "little and often". Eating too much in one sitting will most likely make the kitten vomit all the food back up.

Cats are carnivores so they derive all the nutrients from meat, so it makes sense to find a food with a high (50% or over) meat content. This should be the FIRST ingredient (listed as Chicken, Turkey, Lamb, Tuna, etc.). Foods that are free of grains, corns, and wheat gluten are highly recommended as these are cheap "filler" that bulk up foods - but have no nutritional value for your kitten. Wet food with these specifications are much easier to find than in dry food.

Also, if you want to give your kitten milk, use specially formulated "Kitten Milk". DO NOT give them cow's milk as most cats are lactose intolerant and will get sick. A sick young kitten can become fatally ill in mere hours.

Litter: Put the litter tray in a quiet area of the house. Cats will not go to the litter tray if stressed or feel they are constantly interrupted. They, like humans, like their privacy, too! If your kitten is very very young, you might want to avoid clumping clay litter as the clay is very harsh on their paws, so they won't want to use the tray at all. Wood pellets are much softer.

Remove any poop using a poop-scoop each day, and completely clean the tray with warm water and soap every week, and place fresh litter in once the tray is dry.

Don't forget to show your kitten where the tray is the first few times. Most cats don't need "training"; once they know where the tray is, they will happily go in it. Be sure to praise her when she uses the tray!

Toys: I have found the best toys are home-made ones! A scrunched up ball of paper on string works just as well as a bought toy. Kittens LOVE the sound and texture of scrunched up paper! Cardboard boxes with holes cut in them work very well also. Straws are fantastic for them to chew, especially when teething. If you DO buy toys, don't be surprised if they are ripped to ribbons within a few weeks. Kittens play rough!

Another thing on toys: Don't let your cat get into the habit of attacking your hands. This will become very painful when the kitten is bigger, stronger, and has big sharp claws and teeth! If your kitten becomes too rough, or misbehaves (climbing up the curtain, for instance), a loud "NO!", and swift removal will often suffice. Ignoring when the cat plays too rough of begs for food is effective - the kitten will learn quickly that doing certain things won't get any attention. "Punishing" a cat will just teach the kitten to be fearful, or misbehave behind your back. Positive reinforcement is key! Be sure to praise your kitten often for behaving well!

The cat carrier, while a helpful thing to place your cat in to go to the vets, is also a great "time out" area! You will undoubtedly spend many nights trying to get the kitten to stop jumping up the walls and going completely mad for hours on end. Sticking the kitten in the carrier for twenty minutes or so will help her calm down.

Scratching Posts: Are a must. A cat, like using the litter tray, will normally choose the scratching post to stretch and dig in its claws. Make sure the post is tall enough for the kitten to stretch to her full height at the very least. You might need to buy several and place one in rooms she uses the most, or ones you have furniture in to prevent any possible furniture scratching!

Other Health Points: Be sure to spay/neuter your kitten before the age of 6 months.

Looking after a kitten is hard work sometimes, but the rewards are well worth it! In the end, you will end up with a loving family pet which will stay with the household for 15-20 years!

The best way to find this answer is to Google it. In fact I'll do it and post what i find on here. a kitten will require several vaccinations between eight and sixteen weeks of age. These vaccinations will guard against upper respiratory illnesses, feline leukemia, rabies, and feline panleukopenia. Without these vaccinations a kitten can become seriously ill and possibly die.

"Kitten Care" also recommends talking to your veterinarian about medications for preventing and controlling internal parasites. Parasites that can infect a kitten are tapeworms, coccidia, giardia, roundworms, and hookworms. A kitten infected with these parasites will experience vomiting, diarrhea, and can become extremely ill.

The same article recommends checking the kitten's skin for external parasites such as ear mites, ticks, and fleas. There are very good prescription products available that are given monthly to prevent and control fleas and ticks. Talk to your veterinarian and find out which one is right for your pet. If your kitten is scratching its ears excessively it may have ear mites. A prescription is available from your veterinarian to eliminate ear mites.

Cats and kittens generally do not overeat, so food should be made available at all times. Feed your kitten a good quality food. This will ensure the kitten is getting the right amount

of vitamins and minerals necessary for growth. Avoid feeding your kitten table scraps. Table scraps will cause a kitten to become overweight, and the kitten may not get the proper nutrition it requires.

Training a kitten to use a litter box is generally easy. Make sure the litter box contains enough litter for digging and burying. About two to three inches is sufficient. Place the kitten in the litter box and gently guide the kitten's paw through the litter. This will teach the kitten what it is suppose to be doing.

The kitten will instinctively know what to do next. Scoop out any solid waste each day, and distribute any wet litter evenly in the box to allow it to dry.

The litter box should be completely changed each week. Scrub the box using hot, soapy water before adding fresh litter. Scoopable litter is very convenient because the box will not have to be completely changed as often.

If your kitten suddenly stops using the litter box this could be a sign of a bladder infection, and your kitten will need to been seen by a veterinarian for treatment.

Kittens are like babies and children they need routine, discipline and lots of love and cuddles. Train a kitten from the off, as soon as you get home keep the kitten in one room for the first couple of days. Make sure he has plenty of food, a clean litter tray and that its warm. At night do not let your kitten have free reign, establish a bedtime and put him in his room at this bedtime, he should start to realsie when it is time for bed and will often wander off of his own accord at the set time to his room. Always keep a kitten interested, supply lots of balls, feathers, chew toys, a scratch post and cat nip. A kitten in a wonderful thing to bring into a home!

! Your question was:

"How do you take care of a sick cat?"

Answer:

Try taking it to the Vet and they will give you some medicine for your cat. Or, instead of paying for medicine, try using some medicine you already have.

But whatever you do, do NOT give it human medicine, because human medicine is bad for cats.

By cat medicine I mean the Veterans might give your cat a shot or a little dropper that drops a liquid medicine into their ear or even mouth.

I hope this helps and if it doesn't, sorry.

Well if you have a hurt cat, then there is a lot of ways you can heal it. The easiest one is you can make the cat feel loved and at home. Believe it or not, your cat will feel much better. Make sure to always be with your cat and apply it company. If you don't, your cat will think you have no relationship with it what so ever. And it will dislike you. Do nice things for it! For example: Always give your cat a bed. Whether it's your bed or a cat bed. Or even a bed you made out of blankets. Don't ever force your cat to do ANYTHING. Even sleep. Teach your cat in a nice manner that you are the boss. Don't hit or spank your cat!!! Therefore she will not feel loved and she will not heal. Buy your cat anything she needs. Cat food, water, Litter box, medicine for any particular reason. Fleas, Worms, anything. Take your cat to the vet when she is sick. Ask your veterinarian for any medicine or treatment to heal your cat. Teach your cat to spend some time with you outside. If you teach her right, she will love the outdoors. Also, be careful not to do the same mistake that got her hurt in the first place. Good Luck!!! :D
