Depending on the prescription type you use you might be able to take two for up to those 4 missed days, but most advise that after you miss 3 days that you stop taking them for the month and just start over the next month.

∙ 13y agoIt would be a good idea to start taking the pills immediately, now that you are aware and to use backup BC, like a condom until you have taken 7 pills in 7 days.
The first or last week of a packet is the time you are most likely to ovulate due to missing pills. If you had unprotected sex during that time (in the last 5 days) it would be advisable to use Emergency Contraception.
Next Choice or Plan B are both available without a prescription, to anyone 17 years or older - if used within 72 hours of unprotected sex they are 89% effective. They maybe effective up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex. If you choose to use an ECP, start taking your regular BCP the next day.
If you had unprotected sex, you should use a HPT when you reach the end of the pill packet, just to be sure. In the mean time continue to take the pills everyday. (If you are pregnant, the BCP will not effect the developing embryo.)

∙ 13y agoYou can not catch up after missing 4 Birth Control pills. After even missing one, you are at an increased risk for pregnancy, but by 4 pills you could have ovulated already. you have to wait till your cycle completes, then start all over with a new pack.
