How do you change a thermostat on a 1997 Oldsmobile silhouette?
The thermostat is located on the left side of the engine block. Follow the top radiator hose back and it will lead you to the housing. You'll need to remove the air filer and hoses that are in your way and I recommend having a swivel adaptor handy to reach the rear bolt on the housing. It is a very tight fit to get to and make sure you give yourself a couple hours to finish it up.
Changing a thermostat in a 1997 Plymouth Voyager is very easy to do. You will need to follow the radiator hose to the thermostat. You will then take the hose off the thermostat and remove the two bolts holding the thermostat in place. Make sure to clean the area before putting the new thermostat in place.
Ours is a 1997 so this may or may not help. I had to remove the air cleaner assy, the windshield fluid reservoir and then there was a support bracket that ran from the radiator to the wheel well I had to remove. There was two bolts in the front and two that you had to access from the wheel well, once removed you could get to the battery.
Changing a thermostat in a 1997 Dodge Ram 318 is very simple to do. First the radiator hose will need to be removed from the thermostat. After the hose is removed, loosen the nuts that are holding the thermostat in place. Then the thermostat will need to be pulled out using just the hands. Then replace with a new thermostat.
Why would a 1997 Pontiac Transport Montana provide low heat inside even after the thermostat has been changed?
If you have a 3.5L engine, just follow the top radiator hose to the engine. The hose attaches to the thermostat housing. remove the 2 bolts and the thermostat is right there. Do not use the rubber ring sold with the new thermostat unless your housing is plastic. Install new thermostat with the spring facing the engine (down).
