Publish/Finish the Windows Movie Maker file. The publishing/finishing process automatically converts the project file to a Standard Viewing Format. Then the file can be opened on a media player such as Windows Media Player.
You can't convert a .MSWMM video because it is still in project form.
Conversion to Standard formats such as .wmv is achieved during the Publishing/Finishing process.
Bottom line: .MSWMM must be Published/Finished for achieve Standard formats.
You CANNOT convert a MSWMM file into any other format. That is a Windows Movie Maker project file name extension. In other words, you can't do anything with it outside the program.
The way to change it into a format that can be viewed in a media player, emailed, uploaded or burned to CD/DVD is by Publishing/Finishing/Saving (terminology depends on WMM version) the project.
When you Publish/Finish/Save a Windows Movie Maker project, the process mixes-down (exports) audio and video properties and saves it in a (pre-selected) Standard format.
If you mean change by making it able to be used on YouTube, PowerPoint etc. simply click on "Save to computer" on the side bar on the left hand side.
You need to a video converter to do this, or why not use a better Windows Movie Maker alternative.
For converter, I recommend Aimersoft Video Converter
