Wait until the car is cooled down. To change an o2 sensor you must have an 7/8 inch wrench or have an o2 sensor wrench. After finding the correct tool for the application you then jack up the car in most cases. Find The o2 sensor in the exhaust system most likely at the front of the car behind the front wheels about 2 feet in. Loosen the o2 sensor with the wrench and unscrew. Reverse process for installation.
To change an O2 sensor you need to disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor. Use an O2 sensor socket and ratchet set to remove the old sensor and replace with the new one.
to change o2 sensor ,you need to buy a o2 sensor socket from a parts store then disconnect neg terminal on battery ,after that disconnect wire connecter on o2 sensor and remome o2 sensor
Downstream O2 sensor is an O2 sensor after the catalytic converter. Upstream O2 sensor is an O2 sensor before the catalytic converter.
It screwed in to the exhaust manifold. To change it you unplug the sensor and unscrew it with an O2 sensor socket.
No, the spark plugs and O2 sensor are totally different things. that is not right!! they are the same things!!
The bad one.
You need to change the upstream sensor
don't have the foggiest
Unplug the sensor, Unscrew it with the correct size wrench, screw in the new one and plug it in.

The 1999 Mercury Mountaineer 02 sensor is secured to the firewall with two retaining screws. Remove the two retaining screws. Remove the O2 sensor hose. Reverse the process to install the new sensor.
check on the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter. there are possibly 2 O2 sensors. unplug them and unscrew them with a wrench or buy a socket for an O2 sensor.
change your o2 sensor
the o2 sensor is located in the exhaust manifold. As you pop the hood and look at the engine, you should see a silver colored heat shield. Unplug the old O2 sensor. Then remove the heat shield. Its easier this way (10 MM bolts). Get a O2 sensor socket and remove the sensor and replace. The rear sensor is located in 1 0f 3 places. Either before in or after the catalytic converter. For this one you just get the O2 sensor socket and remove. (When the engine is cold) Madd Dogg 40/40

the price of the 02 sensor. under 20 bucks. and about 10 min of your time.
If your plan is to install a new O2 sensor, I would unplug the electrical connection to the sensor and then cut the wires off at the sensor. Doing this will allow you to slip a 7/8" box wrench over the sensor and turn it counterclockwise to remove it.
The O2 sensor is located on the rear exhaust- driver's side. Easiest to get to if you rotate the engine forward and away from the firewall. I have used regular wrenches even though they sell O2 sensor wrenches.
The O2 sensor bank 1, sensor 2, on a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, can be changed by first removing the air intake line. Next, remove the retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new sensor.
