I haven't seen the actual 2000 so if it is different maybe someone can help later. But every alternator I have changed has 2 bolts. One that is attached to a slide arm for tightening the belt and the other that holds it in place on the bottom. This bottom one is a long nut and bolt usually.
First disconnect the battery and remove the connections on the alternator. Remove both of the bolts from the alternator completely, and remove the belt, I would replace it at the same time. Then you can usually remove the alternator by sliding it up and back or down and around. It can be a puzzle but you shouldn't need to remove anything else unless it just makes it easier to get them out of the way.
Reverse order to put it back in. Just pry something between the engine and the alternator prior to the final tighten so you can get the belt tight. If not you will hear the belt screaming later. If so then go tighten it some more.
