Disconnect the battery and just remove the bolts holding the alternator, disconnect the wire connection and remove the alternator.
alternator bracket
The most common cause for your 1996 Lincoln to shut down is a charging system problem. The alternator or the battery are malfunctioning.
its on top of the engine in the center, there are two bults that hold it on, reduse tention on the belt tentioner to get the belt off it
What's the question?
You have to use a 1/2 inch breaker bar and put it in the square hole of the tensioner and turn it to release the tension of the belt.
its very very easy just go to strut masters.com and order the factory bolt up kit did it to my 1996 Lincoln mark v111 right before winter...it is very easy
Yes
Open the hood, on top of the engine in the middle front.
Yes it will if the 96 is a standard Mark Vlll, if the 96 is a LSC model it won't.
Sometimes with these Marks when you change either the battery or alternator the other will go out so a lot of places change out both at the same time, also the positive cable can be at fault and it's a pain to change out.
Follow from tank
It should.
