How do you change an improper fraction to a decimal?

OK so say you have 6 over 5.

First you want to divide 5 into 6.

You should get 1 and 1 remaining.

Then since the denominator always stays the same you should get

1 and 1 over 5. Because the whole number will be the big number and

the remainder will be the numerator.

Then you divide 5 into 1. ( Your denominator into your

numerator)

That gives you 0.2 so then you put the whole number in the

problem and it comes out to 1.2

Do you get it? It might be best to work this out on paper or

something.

Hope this helps!!!
