The dim lights are probably caused by hazed,cloudy, or fogged out plastic lenses. I detail headlights at used car dealerships and I use a product called CrystaLenz. Their product works extremely well without removing the lens or using any special tools. You can get more info. at www.crystalenz.com

this is due to the lenses in between the headlights, which cause the beam pattern to loose brightness and go yellow i.e. dim, even if you replace the bulbs the lenses will need replacing as this is an MOT failure. Once you have replaced either the lenses or the whole headlight unit, i would suggest getting builbs that are UV protected. (These are not standard bulbs from ford) then they shouldn't burn out the lenses…
