i have a '02 883r with 1200 heads and buell goodies... anyway I've done this myself. the trick is after you take the back wheel loose enough to get the old off and new on, (if u cant figure that out, pay a dealer 400.00 ) anyway the trick is tension should be about the middle of the hash mark provided under ur 2 into one exhaust pipe, and you can measure or count the threads of the 2 bolts on either side of the rear tire that you first loosened to loosen the tire....good luck make sure the tire's straight and you're good as the dealer can do!
How do I change drive belt on a 95 heritage softail
you will need top remove the outer and inner primary, rear tire and swingarm to be able to do this.
If memory serv's you will need to remove your rear brake master cylinder and reservoir. Then remove the access cover. You will also have to remove the rear axle to get the drive belt on. I would advise that if you are going to DIY your bike you purchase a service manual from your local Harley Dealer.

The valve cover gasket on a Harley 883 motorcycle is changed by unbolting the valve cover and lifting it from the engine. The gasket can then be removed, the surface cleaned, and a new gasket put in place.
