Yes, you can. The whole problem with flat paint over satin is the gloss sheen bleeding through the flat finish. I typically do one of two things for a customer when they have this situation: Either I just plan on two coats of the new paint, or I paint the walls with cheap flat white paint and then paint the top coat with the new paint. I prefer the latter, as I always have buckets of cheap flat white leftover, which saves some cash, as the top coat is usually about $30 per gallon.

you might be able to dilute the colour, i tend to mix my own paints, with the samplers from diy stores, i suggest you buy a few samplers roughly the same colour as the paint and mix them together well, dont add the samples to quickly as the paint might split.
incidently this is a great way of saving money buy giant pots of bog standard white matt, choose the colour you want on the chart and then buy a colour about 2-3 shades darker then mix with your white. beware you must mix to much in case u run out

∙ 11y agoYOU can't, but the paint dept where you bought it often can if it's the right base. Take the can to them, many are very helpful and will do changes to paint that they have sold.

I don't believe you can put latex paint over an oil base. it will never dry and will always be tacky
