Directly behind the head light bulb is a cap that comes off by twisting it a quarter turn. Take off the cap. The bulb is held in place by a spring clip. Undo the clip (it'll be self explanatory if you've gotten this far). Pull out the bulb and put in the new one. It only looks hard. The passenger side has more room to work, so you may want to do that side first to get the feel before doing the driver's side.
If this doesn't help you, drive the car to a shop and realize you have the mechanical ability of a 2 year old.

Remove the 2 bolts on top of the headlight assembly, then you can pull it out and remove the metal bar on the back that gives you access to the light sockets. Do not touch the light bulbs with your hands.

On a 2004 envoy, open the hood and on the top of the headlight assy there are two tabs that you pull up allowing you to pull the headlamp assy forward and access the the bulbs. These are halogen bulbs so remember to wear gloves when handling the bulbs.
You have to take the tire off and get the liner off to reach the the headlight!

If the manual is the same as the 2007 Mazda 3, its pretty comprehensive. Basically pull the rubber booty, twist the bulb, remove the bulb. There is a sub-assembly attached to the bulb that you have to remove and put on the new bulb. Attach the wire, twist into the housing, put the rubber booty back on...you're good to go. It is not even necessary to remove the wiring harness/connector from the lampholder.
You do not have to remove grill as some have said. Just remove air cleaner assembly and you will see two rubber boots for the bulbs. Pop off the boots with a flathead screwdriver, twist off the bulb and replace it. 5 minutes.

Pull out the plugs that are connected to the headlight assembly. Replace the bulbs and then reconnect the assembly.
