You must remove the entire console from the vehicle to get that cupholder, USELESS AND INCONVENIENT AS IT IS, out of there. The panel just below the radio and HVAC controls which houses the rear window defrost switch (and heated seat controls if so equipped) can be removed by carefully prying up on the upper "ears of that panel as it is just held in by push clips. Then unplug the switches that are mounted to that panel and then caefully pull up the panel that surrounds the radio, HVAC and trans shifter and put that asside. This panel has a ground wire with very little slack iin it so be careful when pulling it ujp as you must unplug that ground. Next remove the screws (HEY...SOMETHING IS ACTUALLY SCREWED IN ON THIS CAR!!!) that were exposed when you removed the defroster bezel. open the conole lid and take all that junk out and the phone if so equipped and the little rubber mat at the bottom and remove more screws...You will locate all the screws that hold that console to the floor and remove them. Try and set them to the side in such a way as to know which places they occupied originally, this will make the reassembly far easier. CAREFULLY remove the console from the car and take it inside where it is hopefully cooler and then begin the laborious task of taking that complex console entirely apart to get at the cupholder. This is also a good time to reenforce the possibly broken ashtray lid dowells which one of was broken on my car. I did this with small machine screws and then I cut off the points of the screws so the ashtray would go back in place.
Not unless you try to change the whole front end of the car.
It would have to be cut out.
