Purchase a good set of OEM plug wires. Lay them out shortest to longest. Now remove one plug wire from your car and match it up with the proper length wire. If the new plug wires do not have dialectric grease already installed in the boots, purchase a small tube, and put a very, very, small amount inside each boot. Install the one wire you have matched up and move to the next. The key is to do them one at a time and route them exactly as they were installed from the factory.
Count how many spark plug wires there are.....
Spark plugs and wires
One at a time.
The 1988 Chevy Cavalier spark plug wires are quite easy to remove. The spark plug wires simply pull off on each end. Put the new spark light wires on by pushing downward on each end.
Use AC/Delco spark plugs. The wire choices are numerous. Ask for OEM type plug wires unless you are racing this vehicle. In that case ask for Accel performance plug wires.
Chevy didn't offer the 5.7 on the Camaro in 1984
change only one wires at a time, matching each to length.
The firing order on the Chevy camaro is 18436572 -- 1,3,5,7 being on the left (driver side) front to back and the 2,4,6,8, being right side -- front to back !
make sure its not getting to much fuel and check the timeing/and if the wires are in the right order
i would change the spark plug wires
they are on both sides of the engine just under the spark plug wires.
Change one at a time to avoid mixing up the firing order.
