I have a 2005 s40. remove side cover by door and dash (snaps), remove bottom cover by your knee two screws and the light is attached, under the radio/counsel remove cover snaps and the temp sensor is attached to it , remove gas pedal three bolts and electrical plug (must be done), the filter cover is next to the gas pedal three small screws up and down. experience you must do all steps no short cuts. Also i have learned after market filters interior or exterior are slightly larger and harder to install. Volvo's can be bought cheap on ebay. Good luck
