Wait until the car is cooled down. To change an o2 sensor you must have an 7/8 inch wrench or have an o2 sensor wrench. After finding the correct tool for the application you then jack up the car in most cases. Find The o2 sensor in the exhaust system most likely at the front of the car behind the front wheels about 2 feet in. Loosen the o2 sensor with the wrench and unscrew. Reverse process for installation.

i depends on if its sensor and bank 1 or sensor and bank 2, sensor and bank 1 is in front of the catalytic converter whereas sensor and bank 2 are behind the catalytic converter. just look for the sensor sticking out of the exaust, disconnect and resolder wiring all you really need is a crescent and a soldering iron. i just went through this with my 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse spyder.

the o2 sensor is located in the exhaust system, protuding from the catalytic converter. to replace the sensor u need a sensor socket of the rite size (they usually all only come in one size). Its a socket with a slot cut out of it for the wires to fit by when loosening the sensor. Its prolly easier to remove the whole exhaust system out since its only held by elastic bands, but u can do it with it attached as well. Loosen sensor with sensor socket, remove and replace. Oh and one more thing, remember to do this when the car hasn't been started for at least an hour or two otherwise that exhaust will scold u bad.
