why does my 2002 chevy cavalier over heat after i change the thermostat and the water pump
how to change water pump on a 97 Auldi a4 1.8
A '98 Cavalier Z24 has a timing chain, not a belt. Currently in the process of changing the water pump, and the timing chain is involved. We are looking at replacing the chain while there because it is a very involved process. You should get a Chilton manual, well worth the money. Will let you know more after completion.
its either the water pump or thermostat take it to a shop if you can that pump is a nightmare to change
There is a schematic on the fan shroud. If not go to a used car lot and find a like car and draw a schematic,
throat on back of water pump 2 bolts
On some engines (e.g. 2.4L) the water pump is inside the timing cover. Apparently it's not easily replaced... local garage wants $1200 to replace it and recommends replacing timing chain at the same time. ON THE 2.2 ITS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THE ALTERNATOR. REAL EASY TO CHANGE.
It's recommended to do when you are replacing the timing belt.
Engine overheating. Check the radiator for leaks in the hose pipe or radiator, otherwise the water pump is faulty and will need replacing
