the belt tensioners are on the alternator and the air conditioner. On the alternator, you would have to loosen the 2 bolts that are on the tension bar. On the air conditioner, you would have to loosen the tension bolt and you would also have to loosen a bolt that is behind the air conditioner pulley. You would have to turn the pulley to get the holes to line up to the bolt to loosen.

∙ 9y agoThe serpentine belt on a 92 Chevy Caprice Classic is changed by loosening the tensioner pulley and pulling the belt off. A new belt can then be put in place and the tension restored.

Also in order to loosen the serpentine belt you have to use a wrench or something and turn on the bottom pulley....easy remove the serpentine belt for the fan area and remove the two bolts that hold the alternator down and unclip the wiring harness
