BradleyWhat does a 2002 Chrysler sebring blower resistor look like? Where is it look locate?

Blower Motor Resistor Replacement (with pics)

I knew I had to change the blower motor resistor because on my '02 Sebring LX the 1-2-3 options on my fan didn't work, and 4 did. So I did a little bit of researching (mainly on this forum and a few other Chrysler pages) and went straight to the dealership.

I bought my replacement from Pep Boys for 42.00 USD.

This is what you should be looking for:

To get to this, I recommend moving your passenger seat all the way back (as well as tilted all the way back).. Under my glove-box there was a foam'ish covering being pretty much held on by one bolt, remove it.

Now you should have access to your blower motor resistor and a whole bunch of other fun, colorful wires. Lol, something like this:

Just remove the two bolts holding in the resistor, it should slide right out. But this is where I encountered quite the obstacle. Getting to the 2nd bolt was hell, as it's conveniently hidden 'on the other side' of the resistor out of reach from anyone with big arms/shoudlers/hands. Anyway, replace the old with the new (in the same slot of course).

Put bolts back on, foam'ish cover back on, and you're done!

"The OE Manufacturer has modified this resistor to a heavier duty style. The opening in the housing must be modified to accpet this new part. Disconect the wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor, Remove the two screws that secure the blower motor resistor to the HVAC housing. Use a hot knife or similar tool to enlarge blower resistor opening in the HVAC housing so that the opening matches the inside edge of the raised rib around the opening (fig. 1).

Note: Remove any/all debris from thw HVAC housing before installing the new resistor.

Remove all material in the shaded area."

The note of course refers to Fig.1.

Whole job took 1 hour. I suppose I'd have save some time had I read the instructions prior to removal/installationJ

The blower motor speed resistor is burned out. The resistor is located close to the blower motor and is easy to change. Your local auto parts store will have that part for you.
