the front of the truck should be supported on a flat, solid, level surface. Jack-stands should be used. remove front tires. clean rotors and calipers with an EPA and locally approved brake system cleaner NOT COMPRESSED AIR!!!!! inspect pads and rotors for wear and damage to determine need for replacement. Keep in mind whether the vehicle has ABS or not and order parts accordingly. loosen and remove caliper from spindle assembly by the 2 (two) internal hex bolts located on the inboard, rear. suspend the caliper from a frame member out of the way. DO NOT ALLOW IT TO HANG BY THE BRAKE LINE. with a large c-type clamp, slowly compress the cylinder of the caliper and remove the pads saving any clips from the old pads keeping in mind how they are placed. be sure to keep parts as clean and oil free as possible taking care not to scratch or mar any of the friction surfaces. transfer any hardware and install new pads assembly should mirror removal. All else fails.... consult your Hayes manual for more detailed instructions and torque specs.
