In Microsoft Word 2007 and 2010, select Insert from the ribbon. You will see the Header and Footer options on the right-hand-side of the menu. There you will be able to modify your current document's header and footer.
Header is the area at the top of the pages. Footer is the area at the bottom of the pages.
Click the Insert tab then look for Header & Footer Group.
Double click the header (or footer) to open it for editing, select all (Ctrl + a) Delete. Close the header/footer, save.
In Microsoft Word 2003, it is under File --> Page Setup, and on the Margins tab you can set the regular margins. On the Layout tab, you can set the header and footer margins. In Microsoft Word 2007, it is on the Page Layout tab. There is a Margins dropdown menu.
To insert headers and footers in Microsoft Word, go to the Insert tab on the Ribbon. Click on "Header" or "Footer" and then select the desired style from the drop-down menu. You can then customize the header or footer with text, page numbers, date, time, and other options.
Drop down the "File" menu, by clicking file. Then Select Page Setup... Click on the Layout Tab. In the middle of the dialog box, you will see the sizing for the header and the footer. Microsoft Office Word 2003.
I use sections in a word document when typing reports that you may want to change the header or footer. When you create a section break, you can restart page numbers in the footer, for example.
Footer is text at the bottom of the page. It is important for footnotes or page numbers or other professional features. To insert a footer 1) Double click in the area below the text at the bottom of the page 2) Go to insert>headers and footers>footer (in word 2007: insert tab>footer) To insert a footnote, go to (word 2007) references>insert footnote
Most word processing programs will number pages automatically for you. Look near the header and footer commands in Microsoft Word. You don't have to number page one.
