no, but disconnect the battery prior to doing this- remove the screws securing the column "clamshells", undo harnesses and screws that hold the switch ass'y- not a terribly difficult task.
On my '02, it is plugged into the dash side if the multifunction switch (the turn signal, headights switch) and you have to remove the top of the plastic steering column cover to see it. It is a black, plastic cube. Another location used (as my multifunction swith may not be original) is screwed to the bottom right side of the steering column bracket under the dash panel by the driver's knees.
What I know as the multifunction switch is the switch for your turn signals / wipers etcetera so the switch is inside your steering column cover with the turn signal lever ( and you don't say what year , so possibly your hazard flasher on / off button ) sticking outside the steering wheel column cover
