The problem is that the oil filter is on the top of the engine. I just want to make sure there are no tricks involced.

Believe it or not it is in the Owner's Manual.
manual -every 7500 miles under normal conditions
From an auto zone I was told 4.75 quarts for a 2005 santa fe 2.7liter engine. That's how much to add during an oil change.
to the right of the oil filter
The oil pressure light switch is located in the engine compartment on a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. It is to the right of the oil filter.
Not necessary but never a bad idea if possible. Just never overfill the engine.
It is under the car.
The oil capacity for the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with the 2.7 liter engine is approximately 5 quarts. This oil can be purchased at any auto parts store.
The oil filter is located on a Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5L V6 underneath the front of the engine. There is a protective cover that must be removed to expose the oil filter.
Follow the manufactures recommendations as listed in your owner's manual. If you do not have one, I advise you to get one. In the mean time change the oil/filter every 5,000 miles.
