remove the belt. then in center of the tensioner is a bolt that goes into engine. remove this bolt. then tensioner should come off.
I don't have the exact car model diagram but try this http://www.gti-vr6.net/library/engine/repl_serpentine_belt_NEW.html
I need a routing diagram for a serpentine built on a 1999 cavalier 2.2 engine with air codition
The serpentine belt tensioner is held in place by one bolt. The retaining bolt goes through the middle of the serpentine belt tensioner pulley.
Remove belt and tensioner should just be bolted to engine
The tensioner bolt for a 96 Cavalier is in the pulley for the tensioner. The tensioner is in the middle of the front of the engine.
Look in the engine compartment for the "serpentine belt" path & tensioner diagram. Release the belt tension at the tensioner, remove & reverse operation.
Put the serpentine belt on to the pulleys of your 1994 Chevy engine. Tighten a serpentine belt with the tensioner pulley.
Loosen the tensioner pulley on your Monte Carlo 3.1 liter engine. Slide the tensioner pulley to the right. The serpentine belt can be removed. Put the new serpentine belt on and slide the tensioner pulley to the left.
You have a spring load style tensioner - check outhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFP4blveiLI
The belt tensioner for a 94 Cavalier is mounted on the front of the engine. The tensioner is spring loaded on an arm to keep the belt tight.
The tensioner is spring loaded and there is provision for tightening it. To take it off take the bolt out that attatches it to the engine.
