i changed the spark plugs on my Nissan altima 2003 3.5 engine. i removed the intake manifold but didn't remove the battery cable and now the car accelerates and decelerates on its own. What can I do to fix this?
To replace the spark plugs on a 2003-2006 Hyundai Tiburon V6: You will need a 3/8" drive 10mm socket, 12mm socket, 3/8" extension, 'claw' or extension magnet pickup tool and pliers, in addition to the usual tools used to change a set of plugs. NOTE: always use dialectic grease when installing new spark plugs and cables. 1) Disconnect the battery, remove the plastic engine cover. 2) Change the front three plugs. This is a fairly straightforward exercise. 3) Remove the five (5) bolts and two (2) nuts from the front of the intake manifold surge tank (yes, it is the big aluminum thing blocking your access to the plugs). 4) Remove the bolts securing the engine ground to the intake manifold surge tank. 5) Remove the bolts securing the throttle cable and cruise control mount to the intake manifold surge tank, then remove the three (3) bolts at the rear of the surge tank from the surge tank bracket. 6) Remove the air intake hose connected to the throttle body. 7) You may remove the engine coolant hose and the throttle body, however doing so may require a new gasket upon reinstallation. You may instead disconnect the sensor cables and hoses to the throttle body and leave it attached to the intake manifold surge tank, but be careful not to damage any hoses. 8) Disconnect the vacuum hose connections. Remove the surge tank stay. 9) Carefully move the surge tank out of the way without damaging wiring, hoses or the surge tank gasket. 10) Replace the plugs, and ignition wires. I recommend high quality plugs, either platinum or iridium, that do not need to be replaced as frequently as standard plugs. I also absolutely recommend a high quality ignition wire, preferably the stock Hyundai ones. You don't want to do this again, at least for another 100,000km (62,000 miles). NOTE: I have ommitted removal of some of the fuel lines. You can get away with not doing removing them if you just prop, or hold the surge tank up with a bungee cord or other convenient item. Removing the lines can be messy, and if you aren't experienced it could end up in a mess, or even an engine fire. You don't need to entirely remove the surge tank, just get it out of your way. This can be done with the above method. 11) Reinstall the surge tank and reattach all the wires, cables and hoses. Run the engine and inspect for vacuum leaks, hoses that may have been damaged and electrical connectors you may have missed. The engine should have noticeably improved performance, without missing.
