If its like the 91 Mighty Max, on the drivers side you see the starter, disconnect the battery from the neg side. The bolts are thru the back, closest to the drivers seat and transmission. a 14mm long 10" will be needed to get to the top bolt. You first must disconnect the two heater hoses at the bottom. Real fun.. you can loosen this bolt using the 14mm.. it will take a while as you can only turn it less than a 1/4 turn each time..you can not get a socket, crows foot or ratchet wrench on it. I tried. to get to the bottom bolt you must disconnect and remove the linkage to the transmission shifter. then place a small jack under the transmission mount and remove all 12 14mm bolts. then lower the transmission about 3 or 4 inches, you do not need to remove the drive shaft. then you can get to the bottom bolt with a 14mm socket and long 10" ratchet. disconnect the two wires running to the starter and remove from the bottom. When you replace the starter you will need a very small hand to restart the bottom bolt. lightly tighten and jack the transmission back up all the way without replacing the bolts, small hands needed to hand start the top bolt from the top, and tighten a little more than the bottom one. lower the transmission and tighten the bottom bolt. raise the transmission back up, replace all 12 bolts ,replace all linkage and tighten the top bolt, again with 10' 14mm 1/4 turn at a time. replace both wires, reconnect the battery and you should be in business. This trial and error took me 10 hours. with these instructions your still looking at a 4-6 hour job.....will pay someone if I ever need to do it again....
nope, the starter should be right at the bottom of the transmission on the driverside.
You are probabily thinking of the starter solinoid..? To change that you got to take off the starter and it'll be a round cylinder about 3 to 4 inches long. If your having transmission problems hit me up
Earlier Fords used an external solenoid, but most of today's vehicles have the solenoid connected to the starter. If the starter solenoid has failed (for most vehicles) just replace the starter.
First, you will want to disconnect the battery cables from the battery. Next go to your starter which will be under the truck at the front of the transmission. You will need to unbolt the starter from the transmission and disconnect the electrical wires from the starter. Remember where each wire goes to, then replace new starter by going in reverse.
remove starter remove transmission unbolt flywheel
To change a starter from a 1993 Acura Integra remove the mounting bolts that connect it to the transmission. Then unplug the solenoid from the wire harness. Install the new unit.
if you look under the vehicle passengers side door you will see the engine and transmission the starter is bolted the transmission mudislife2: there are three bolts holdong it on. one for the wire and two to hold the starter on. it is incredably easy to change if its a 6cyl.
its usually on the right side between the engine and transmission, 3 bolts hold it on
if it is an automatic transmission it is a real nitemare. you have to remove the two transmission coolent lines from the radiator, then you have to slide the starter out through the front of the motor, in between the motor mount and the engine, it will only fit if you get it just right.
It is on the passenger side. If you cant find it how can you change it.
It does not have an external filter. You have to drop the transmission pan and clean it as wll as the screen contained within it.
i just did a transmission change on a 90 s10 u probably have to drop gravel guard on transmission and starter should have two long bolts remove those and wiggle the starter out then carefully unbolt the two wires on the coil of the starter and be careful s10's usually have the two transmission lines in the way and those are a pain to replace hopes this helps and careful starter is heavy and u will prolly have to jack the vehicle up
Dont waste your time...Change the starter.

where is the starter located on a 1998 dodge grand caravan *Added* All starters will be located on the flywheel, transmission housing, Usually on the bottom side of the engine. Its a large cylinder with a smaller cylinder on it, akathe Starter and starter solenoid.
do u remove the 2 long bolts running down the side of the starter or the 2 larger bolts on the end near the transmission?
Disconnect the battery. Loosen the wires to the starter and solenoid. Remove both bolts connecting the starter to the transmission bell housing. If the starter is stuck, tap it with a hammer until it's loose. If it still won't come out, look any obstructions.
Remove the starter power wire from the battery that goes to starter. Starter is between the transmission and engine. Remove the 3 bolts from the starter to the transhousing. Replace new starter re-install the power wire.:) Disconnect the battery first!!! Also, besides the battery cable there should also be a starter switch wire (probably a spade connection).
how to change a starter on a 6400 johndeere
If it is like my 98 Camry, the starter is sitting right on top of the transmission. Should be 2 bolts and 1 wire to unhook. It is not very big so you have to really look for it.
The Starter is not easy to change. First thing " Disconnect the battery". The starter is under the intake manifold and bolts into the transmission. You need to remove the intake and all related hoses and plastic parts as well as the hard plastic cooling pipe that basically sits above the starter. There are 2 bolts that hold it in and one is easy to get at and the other is a bit more difficult.
