I will first use a small net, wet it before touching the betta with it, remove the betta and place it in a small container, example empty Cool Whip container, then just pour the water out of the container that the betta is being kept in rinse it out then I remove the stones and wipe the inside of the glass bowl with rubbing alcohol to remove the alage, rinse the glass container out again, put the stones back in, fill the glass container back up with water at room temp, then I pour the water and betta from the cool whip container back into the glass container.

∙ 15y agoBetta fish tanks do need to be cleaned depending on how big they are. If you have a small tank you may need to wash it every 3-6 days or if you have a larger tank then you could leave it for 1-2 weeks. It all depends on the tank/bowl/aquarium size Fishpert, John

∙ 12y agoto change a fish tank you have to take the fish out and put it in a separate bowl with some of the water from the old tank. Then dump out the rest of the old water in the old tank, and clean the tank. don't use soap. Then fill with tap water, and use a water conditioner (you can buy at a pet store) and wait 10 minutes. Then put the fish and a little bit of the old water back into the tank. (:

∙ 14y agoGet a good quality aquarium siphon to suck out the old water. Once you form a vacuum on the water let it flow out until the desired amount is emptied from the tank. Dump out the old water then fill the bucket (or whatever you have decided to use) with tap water that is of the same exact temperature as the aquarium water. Treat the water with a conditioner that removes both chlorine and chloramines and ad any other treatments needed( i.e. a new tank needs bacteria-in-a-bottle to help it cycle faster), then pour the new water in the tank.

∙ 16y agoA 20 - 25 percent water change every week is recommended for a betta. I use a product called "Betta Plus Conditioner" as an additive to provide great water for the fish to swim in.

No, for a number of reasons. Firstly, one goldfish needs at least 20 gallons on it's own. In addition, not only are bettas and goldfish not compatible, but their needs are different including foods and water temperature; Bettas are best as a solitary fish.

Now you take out the extra water in the bowl that has poop in it and stuff and put it down the sink or something. Then you clean the bowl if you have to and add water wih water cleaner into the bowl. Also leave some room for the old water from the bowl before it was cleaned so the betta doesn't get shocked or anything from the water change. Then, add water cleaner to the bowl again. Now take your fish out of the container with the net and put your fish back to where he was. That's about it. And also after a few weeks change ALL of the water and keep it warmish. If you change the water temperature to cold right away he'll go into shock for the change of temperature! hope I helped :)
