How do you change upper and lowerball joints on a 4x4 1996 dodge ram?

remove wheel, brake caliper, axle shaft cotter key and nut, hub bearing assy, axle shaft being careful not to damadge seal, tie rod end, remove nuts from ball joints, and then steering knuckle. Use proper tool to press ball joints out and new ones in. Then reinstall everything and torque everything to spec. there is a two step torque procedure in the book, but I recommend tightening lower ball joint first (for Dana 60 140-160ft lb) and then slowly torq upper ball joint making sure that the knuckle pivots with a medium amount of drag or else you end up with stiff steering that doesn't return to center by itself.
